Aaron Paul was born on August 27, 1979, in Emmett, Idaho — a small agricultural town that doesn't exactly scream Hollywood pipeline — and built one of the more unlikely careers in prestige television and film over the past two decades. He studied acting in Los Angeles after relocating as a teenager, picking up small television roles throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s before landing the part that would define the first major chapter of his professional life. The role of Jesse Pinkman in Vince Gilligan's Breaking Bad is the kind of performance that critics spend years trying to properly categorize. Paul joined the AMC series in 2008 as what appeared to be a supporting character — a former student turned low-level methamphetamine dealer working alongside Bryan Cranston's Walter White — and proceeded to carry much of the show's emotional weight across five seasons.
