Short's entry into film wasn't through the usual audition grind — it came sideways, through choreography. His work on high-profile touring productions gave him industry contacts and, more importantly, a physical vocabulary that made him immediately watchable on camera. His role as Hands in *Accepted* and Jeff in *Death at a Funeral* showed he could hold his own in ensemble casts without the crutch of a dance sequence (TMDB). The *Stomp the Yard* franchise — where Short played DJ Williams across both films — is probably where casual viewers first locked onto him. Competitive stepping, brotherhood, rivalry.
