John Terlesky is an American actor and director who built his career across two distinct phases — first as a working actor in the exploitation and genre films that crowded the mid-1980s home-video market, then as a television director whose name became a reliable fixture on mid-tier cable dramas and action series. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 30, 1961, he came up through the kind of industry pipeline that doesn't exist anymore: regional theater, small television parts, and the occasional low-budget feature that paid scale and asked you to do your own stunts.

His most visible early credit is The Naked Cage (1986), a women-in-prison picture from producer Chris Santiago that landed him alongside Shari Shattuck and Angel Tompkins. It's not a film that gets serious critical attention — it was never meant to — but within its genre it does what it sets out to do, and Terlesky's performance has a loose, slightly menacing quality that reads better on screen than a lot of what surrounded it.
