Finch's screenwriting career got serious attention with *Predators* (2010), co-written alongside Alex Litvak — a film that dropped a group of elite warriors onto an alien hunting ground and leaned hard into the franchise's original premise. It wasn't a reinvention so much as a confident return to form, and it put Finch on the map as a writer who could handle high-concept genre material without losing the plot (literally). From there, he built a steady run of action and thriller credits that most writers would envy. *The November Man* (2014) starred Pierce Brosnan as a retired CIA operative pulled back into the field — a premise that practically writes itself, but still needs someone to actually write it. *Hitman: Agent 47* (2015) followed, adapting the popular video game franchise; it didn't land with critics (that 8% Rotten Tomatoes score is genuinely hard to look at), but these things happen in franchise filmmaking. *American Assassin* (2017) and *Blood Brother* (2018) kept him active in the thriller space, and he also wrote *Countdown* and *Interrogation*, both in 2016 (Rotten Tomatoes, Letterboxd). The career highlight — so far — is *John Wick: Chapter 4* (2023). The film runs nearly three hours and somehow earns every minute, particularly the extended one-shot staircase sequence that had audiences genuinely stunned. A 93% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and 94% from audiences isn't something most action sequels ever see, and Finch holds a writing credit on it (IMDb). He's also attached to *Masters of the Universe* (2026), the long-in-development He-Man adaptation — which, if it actually comes together, would be among the biggest productions of his career. The through-line across all of it is a writer who's comfortable working inside genre conventions while finding ways to make those conventions feel earned rather than lazy.
