Min Hyo-rin

Min Hyo-rin made her acting debut in the 2009 television series Triple, sharing the screen with Lee Jung-jae and Song Joong-ki — not a bad starting lineup, honestly (Wikipedia). It's the kind of debut that gets you noticed without necessarily making you a household name overnight. The real turning point came two years later with Sunny (2011), a generational ensemble film that became one of South Korea's highest-grossing releases of that year and gave her a much wider audience (Wikipedia). She followed that with The Grand Heist in 2012, a period comedy set during the Joseon Dynasty — the film's central premise involves an elaborate scheme to steal ice blocks, which sounds absurd until you watch it and realize how well the ensemble pulls it off. Her role there showed a comedic instinct that her earlier TV work hadn't fully showcased. Also in 2012, she appeared in A Millionaire on the Run, adding another theatrical credit to what was becoming a genuinely varied filmography (Wikipedia). The mid-decade brought Twenty (2015), a coming-of-age comedy, and the music drama Persevere, Goo Hae Ra (2015), where she carried the lead role of Goo Hae Ra — a character whose ambitions in the music industry gave Min Hyo-rin room to draw on her own background as a singer (Wikipedia). In 2016, she joined the cast of KBS's reality show Sister's Slam Dunk as a regular, which introduced her to a different kind of audience entirely.
