Ren Nagase was born on January 23, 1999, in Tokyo, Japan, and came up through the entertainment industry at a pace that didn't leave much room for a slow build. A member of the Johnny's Entertainment group King & Prince — one of the most commercially dominant idol groups in Japan through the late 2010s and early 2020s — Nagase developed a public profile through music and variety television before turning his attention more seriously toward acting. The thing nobody mentions is how much discipline that actually requires — it's easier, in a lot of ways, to act big than to act small and make it land. Fureru is the kind of film that won't announce itself loudly, but it's the sort of credit that tends to age well on a filmography.

At twenty-five, Nagase is still in the phase of his career where each project carries disproportionate weight — every choice either opens or closes a door.
