Bunny!!
Here's what you need to know before watching
Bunny!! is a Vietnamese psychological thriller that became the country's top-grossing local film of 2026 — and for good reason. It's a 127-minute film about a relationship advice TV host (LyLy) whose marriage starts falling apart the moment a masked guest (Phao) appears on her live show and tells a story that hits way too close to home. The premise sounds gimmicky. It isn't.
The film works because it's genuinely interested in the gap between the advice Linh dispenses on camera and the chaos she's hiding at home. That's not a small thing.
The plot: A masked guest, a crumbling marriage, and a host who can't look away
Hai Linh runs a daytime advice programme — you know the type. People come on, confess their worst moments, and she tells them how to fix it. Control. Authority. Distance. Then someone in a bunny mask sits across from her on live television and describes an abusive relationship, an affair, betrayals that somehow connect to her own husband (Vinh Dam).
What's striking is how the film uses the show-within-the-film structure to comment on performance itself — Linh's on-camera persona versus the panic she can't hide when the cameras should be off. The screenplay (by director Tran Thanh and Thao Nguyen) doesn't waste time explaining this. You just watch it happen.
The third act reaches. There's a moment where the plot stacks too many revelations at once, straining credibility — I kept thinking the film was overcomplicating something that was already tense enough. But the two leads are so skilled at playing just-barely-composed that the wobbles don't sink it.
Cast and production: How a Vietnamese thriller became an international release
Here's the production team: Tran Thanh directed and co-wrote. LyLy carries nearly every scene, bringing a controlled, almost brittle quality that lets you watch her composure crack in real time. Phao as the masked guest is deliberately hard to read — which is exactly the point. Vinh Dam plays the husband in a way that keeps you second-guessing his guilt longer than feels comfortable.
The studios behind it — Trấn Thành Town, Galaxy Studio, and HKFilm — clearly had ambitions beyond Vietnam's borders. And they delivered. The international rollout, handled by distributor 3388 Films, launched in Germany, Czech Republic, and Slovakia on March 26, 2026, then the USA, Canada, UK, Norway, and Poland a day later. France followed on March 28. That's a genuinely wide footprint for a Vietnamese-language genre film.
No major award nominations have been announced yet, but the commercial performance alone makes this a significant entry in Vietnamese cinema for 2026.
Why this works when it easily could've failed
The masked TV guest premise is exactly the kind of high-concept setup that collapses under its own weight if the screenplay isn't disciplined. What saves Bunny!! is the satire — the dark comedy embedded in watching a woman who dispenses relationship wisdom professionally while her own marriage quietly rots. The Asian Cinema Critic rated it 7.5/10 and specifically praised its "surprising emotional maturity" alongside an effective blend of psychological thriller and satire.
That's accurate. The film trusts its two leads to carry scenes that are essentially just two people talking, and honestly — that gamble pays off more often than it fails. The visual language stays impressive throughout. The melodramatic register (which could easily tip into camp) stays just on the right side of serious.
Asian Movie Pulse flagged that the twist-heavy finale isn't entirely coherent, and they're right. But if you're the kind of viewer who likes psychological drama with a thriller backbone — something that comments on itself while also keeping you tense — this one's worth your time.
Where to watch Bunny!!
Bunny!! is now available on major streaming platforms, though where exactly depends on your region. Check the Where to Watch widget at the top of this page — Movie OTT tracks current streaming availability across platforms in real time as licensing shifts, so you won't end up clicking through to a service that's already dropped the title.
If you're in the US or UK, start there. International viewers should use Movie OTT's regional tracker to find which platform has it in your country right now.
The 127-minute runtime makes it a solid single-sitting watch. Long enough to feel substantial. Not so long it overstays its welcome.
Is Bunny!! worth your time?
The IMDb score (5.9/10) is still too thin to be meaningful — only 49 votes as of writing. User reactions on Letterboxd are more divided. Some praise the suspense and twists. Others find the finale overwrought. One Fandango reviewer called it "intriguing, engaging, and suspenseful" with "great twists and turns" — which captures the experience for the audience the film's clearly designed for.
What's worth knowing: this isn't a perfect film. The finale overreaches. Some viewers will find the twist mechanics frustrating rather than satisfying. But as a genre exercise that's also quietly interested in something real — the gap between the advice we give and the lives we actually lead — it's more rewarding than its score suggests.
If you liked films about TV personalities unraveling (think Network energy, but intimate), Bunny!! delivers. It's also a strong entry point if you're tracking Vietnamese cinema right now.
