Eidsvold's professional foundation was built in theatre, not film. Joining the Norwegian National Theatre as a permanent company member in 1990 — three years after graduating from the National Theatre School — he spent years developing the kind of craft that doesn't really show up on a streaming service's cast page but absolutely shows up on screen (Wikipedia). It's the kind of casting that either confirms an actor's range or exposes its limits. Eidsvold came through it. Later credits like *Vegas* (2009) and *Shameless* (2010) kept him visible in Norwegian film and television through the 2000s and into the 2010s (Rotten Tomatoes). The role that likely introduced him to the widest audience was his appearance in *22 July* (2018), Paul Greengrass's English-language account of the 2011 Norway attacks. That film demanded a specific kind of performance — grounded, non-sensationalized, emotionally honest without tipping into grief-porn — and the ensemble, Eidsvold included, largely delivered. More recently, *Basic Bitch* (2020) and *The Fishing Place* (2024) show a career that's still moving, still picking projects. He's not coasting on legacy credits. That counts for something.
