Jemele Hill isn't someone who stumbled into prominence. She built it, deliberately, over two decades of sports journalism that took her from regional newspapers to the anchor desk at ESPN and eventually into film production. What's striking is how consistently she's refused to stay in one lane — she's a journalist, a TV host, a memoirist, and now a film producer, and none of those identities seem to contradict each other.

Her ESPN tenure is the chapter most people know.
