Garcia-Rulfo's early career was built on the kind of patient groundwork that doesn't make headlines. After graduating from the New York Film Academy in 2004, he worked in Mexican television and film — building craft, staying busy. His U.S. profile started rising with *Bless Me, Ultima* (2012) and *Cake* (2014), the Jennifer Aniston drama that got serious awards-season attention and gave supporting players like Garcia-Rulfo a chance to register on industry radar. The real inflection point was *The Magnificent Seven* (2016). Playing Vasquez — the sharp-edged, sardonic outlaw who gets some of the film's best one-liners — Garcia-Rulfo held his own in an ensemble that included Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt. That's not nothing. It led directly to bigger-budget work: Kenneth Branagh's *Murder on the Orient Express* (2017), Michael Bay's *6 Underground* (2019), Aaron Schneider's *Greyhound* (2020). Solid films, solid parts, but still supporting-cast territory. Then came *The Lincoln Lawyer* in 2022, and Garcia-Rulfo's career trajectory shifted in a way that feels genuinely earned rather than sudden. As Mickey Haller — a defense attorney who works out of the backseat of a Lincoln Town Car, which is exactly as charming as it sounds — he carries every episode, and the show's audience has grown with each season. He also appeared in *A Man Called Otto* (2022) alongside Tom Hanks, showing he can hold his own in quieter, character-driven material too. Hard to say if any single project defines him more than *The Lincoln Lawyer* does right now, but 2024's *Pedro Páramo* and the upcoming *Jurassic World: Rebirth* (2025) suggest he's not interested in being defined by just one thing.
